Six Super Things About Coconut Oil

When I was growing up, I would share my life discoveries with my dad. He was reliable in responding:  "You think that's the greatest thing since sliced bread!" Most of the time, I agreed with him. First of all, I'm not convinced that sliced bread is all that special. Second, the discoveries that catch my interest bring me great excitement. When I share that with others, my enthusiasm communicates the greatest thing-ness! 

Coconut oil, however, raises the bar! Seriously....coconut oil is the greatest thing since sliced bread! Here's what I love about it: 

1.) A tablespoon of coconut oil in your morning cup of tea clears out residual bacteria and fungus and starts my day off with a dose of good fat for energy and clear thinking! 

2.) Another "Good Morning!" offering: I put a tablespoon in my morning smoothie! The healthy fat fuels my morning workout and staves off hunger until lunch. 

2.) I rub a small amount of oil in my hands and massage the oil into the dry ends of my hair to moisturize, nourish and de-frizz my curls.  But not too much - I don't want to look like "the Fonz!"

3.) I saute my vegetables in coconut oil adding sea salt to awaken the flavor. 

4.) And I roast beets, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts or cauliflower in coconut oil. More sea salt, please !

5.) Coconut oil is a great after shower oil. I use a small amount that will absorb readily for silky soft skin.

6.) Coconut oil has a natural SPF of 4 thus blocking 75% of UV radiation and allowing me 45 minutes of sun exposure. Now that might not protect me all day at the beach but it's helpful for walking the dog!
